has a past life.
I came to design the long way around — through law offices, hangars, and cockpits. For nearly a decade I managed international aircraft sales and refurbishments between Taiwan and the rest of the world: high-value deals, cross-border compliance, legal teams, factories, lessors — complex, multi-party work where the details are the deal.
Before that I was a paralegal in Los Angeles, supporting attorneys on criminal and civil cases — document translation, trial-preparation support, and interpreting between Mandarin, Taiwanese, and English, all under attorney supervision. Every one of those lives taught the same lesson the paper teaches: precision first, then grace. The Lab is where all of it folds together.
✦The Craft
My creativity starts where the screen usually stops: at the body. Lab sites are built to be felt, not just clicked — light that trails your fingertip, origami flowers that bloom for an open palm, galleries that glide under your hand, and pages that can read your actual pulse through a phone camera. Each interaction is designed like a fold: precise underneath, effortless on the surface, and always in service of the person it belongs to.
The design question was: what does a nurse's website feel like? The answer became the site's two signatures. Touch design — a warm light that follows the visitor's cursor or fingertip, the way attention follows a patient. And pulse measurement — rest a fingertip over the phone's rear camera and the page listens, drawing a real heartbeat live on screen. The profession, folded into the interaction itself.
